Hi! I’m Jack:
I approach problems and opportunities from a first principles, process-oriented perspective.
- First principles: I need to break the problem or opportunity down the core components of how it works, even if they are broadly accepted and agreed upon. I’m skilled at finding flaws in first principles, which must be resolved before moving on to the nuanced aspects of the problem or opportunity. Leaving flawed first principles may result in a satisfactory outcome, but creates compounding “systems debt” - and it’s important to weigh that opportunity cost.
- Process-oriented: each problem or opportunity ultimately comes down to the process that it is a part of, or that is critical to its success. There will always be “hacky” short-term solutions (and it’s important to experiment) but the long-term solution is always the creation of a new process or revision to an existing one. Ultimately, all of the actions that we take constitute a process, whether we define it as such or not, so technically all long-term solutions are changes to the way we do things now.
- Blurb: Hey there, I’m Jack. I approach problems and opportunities from a first principles, process-oriented perspective. I’m excited about the opportunity to take a creative, data-driven approach to answering tough questions that ultimately shape the growth trajectory of a business.
